Offshore detention violates human rights and must end: Our formal submission to the Senate

The House of Welcome has lodged a submission to the Senate Inquiry into Australia’s Offshore Processing and Resettlement Arrangements in Nauru and Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Drawing on over two decades of direct experience supporting people seeking asylum, we detail the severe human rights violations, trauma, and mismanagement caused by offshore detention. Our recommendations call for an immediate end to offshore processing, the release and resettlement of those still detained, and a Royal Commission into the human rights breaches that have occurred.
