Leave a gift in your will

By remembering House of Welcome in your Will, you create a lasting legacy of compassion and hope. Your gift will help ensure that people seeking asylum and refugees continue to receive vital support, safety, and a sense of belonging for generations to come. For over 25 years, House of Welcome has worked to build a welcoming community where those forced to flee can thrive—your generosity can make this possible far into the future.

Steps to leaving a gift in your will

Here are the most common ways to leave a gift in your will.

  • We recommend seeking legal advice when creating or updating your Will. Prepare as many details of your finances as possible before seeing your solicitor. It may also help to sit down with your family beforehand and decide how much you could realistically afford to give as a gift.

There is no obligation to let us know, and you can change your mind at any time.

      • A residuary gift is the most effective way to leave a gift in your Will to House of Welcome. It’s the remainder after you have made provisions for your family and friends. A residuary gift also keeps up with inflation which means the gift will achieve as much in the future as it will now.

      • A percentage of your estate is the nominated portion or fixed percentage of your estate to House of Welcome. A percentage gift also keeps up with inflation.

      • A pecuniary gift is a specific amount of money left for House of Welcome.

  • I BEQUEATH the whole of my Estate (or, insert your preferred percentage: ‘XX percent [XX%] of my estate} free of all debts, duties and taxes to House of Welcome (a service of St Francis Social Services) ABN 67 064 978 347, of 197 The Trongate, Granville, NSW 2142 for its general purposes.

    OR

I bequeath the rest and residue of my Estate {(or xx percent) of the rest and residue of my Estate} free of all debts, duties and taxes to House of Welcome (a service of St Francis Social Services) ABN 67 064 978 347, of 197 The Trongate, Granville, NSW 2142 for its general purposes.

    OR

I Bequeath (specify property or items) free of all debts, duties and taxes, to House of Welcome for its general purposes. The receipt of the Chief Executive Officer of House of Welcome (a service of St Francis Social Services) ABN 67 064 978 347, of 197 The Trongate, Granville, NSW 2142 or other duly authorised officer shall be full and final discharge to my Executor for this gift, and my Executor shall not be bound to see to the application thereof.
