Volunteer with us

"I get a huge amount of joy and satisfaction out of doing this volunteer work. The clients I meet are amazing, resilient, strong and brave" – Dani Fullagar, volunteer

Individual volunteering
We couldn’t achieve all the amazing outcomes at House of Welcome without the support of community members who volunteer their skills, passion, time and welcoming personalities to join us in recognising the equality, human rights and humanity of all refugees and people seeking asylum.

Volunteers bring their skills and experience as retirees, professionals, students and graduates. They are from all walks of life with one common desire - to make our community a welcoming one for all. For more information, contact office@houseofwelcome.org.au.

Corporate volunteering
Corporate volunteering is a prominent feature of most corporate partnership programs. Due to the many community inclusion programs offered by House of Welcome, there are a variety of ways employees can engage with our services and work together to make a positive difference for refugees and people seeking asylum.

Some corporate volunteering options include cooking and sharing a meal with people seeking asylum, conducting a non-perishable food drive for our food bank, painting and updating our client spaces to make them welcoming, gardening, mentoring and fundraising. For more information, contact office@houseofwelcome.org.au.

Pro-bono support

Sometimes our partners choose to show their support by providing pro-bono professional services. Some pro-bono support currently required includes printing, human resources, plumbing and electrical work. For more information, contact office@houseofwelcome.org.au.

Be a Work & Welcome host

Work & Welcome is a specialised employment pathway program that provides refugees and people seeking asylum with the valuable work experience necessary to gain a foothold in the Australian workforce.

A Work & Welcome host organisation - which may be a school or a business - raises the funding for the placement through workplace giving. When the funds have been raised, a refugee or person seeking asylum is assigned to the host organisation and participates in their employment placement.

The program is an enriching experience for all involved.

Donate to foodbank

Donating food and material aid to our community foodbank is one of the most immediate ways you can help refugees and people seeking asylum. Those seeking our support are often ineligible for the same assistance as the general population, and rely on donations to sustain their families and their health. Please contact us on (02) 9727 9290 or at office@houseofwelcome.org.au to learn more.

Become a sponsor

Sponsoring a program, a refurbishment, material goods or even a staff member is a valued and important way to support our work.

Sponsorship is a committed partnership process with House of Welcome, offering a creative way for partners to show their support and have their support proudly publicised, aligning with House of Welcome’s positive reputation in the community.

Please contact us on (02) 9727 9290 or at office@houseofwelcome.org.au for further details on sponsorship.

Raise funds

House of Welcome has a range of fundraising activities throughout the year, including appeals, peer-to-peer challenges and events (like the Spring Cycle, pictured. If you’d like to ride with us or sponsor us in this year’s ride, use the contact details below).

We always encourage community support, and welcome individuals or associations making their own efforts to support refugees and people seeking asylum. If you’re interested in seeing how you can help fund raise for House of Welcome, please contact us on (02) 9727 9290 or at office@houseofwelcome.org.au.

Host a speaker

“It was inspiring to hear how she came out of such a dangerous situation and is thriving today because of House of Welcome and its amazing programs” – Truth be Told attendee

The Truth be Told program provides a platform for community leaders with lived experience as refugees or people seeking asylum to share their personal journeys and real-life experiences at schools, community spaces and workplaces. It not only trains participants in story-telling – empowering them to speak their truth in public – but gives those who are hearing their stories deeper insight into the challenges faced by refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia. If you would like to host a Truth be Told speaker at your school or workplace, contact us on (02) 9727 9290 or at office@houseofwelcome.org.au.
