The Friday Men’s Group provides and supports opportunities for men who are seeking asylum and refugees to participate and connect with other men. The Men’s Group connects men across cultural, linguistic and different life experiences to build relationships, reduce social isolation and promote physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The program is aimed at adult men seeking asylum who often have no work rights and little or no support networks. Many people within this group experience compounding language barriers and post-traumatic stress disorders, and struggle to overcome mental and physical health issues. The Men’s Group aims to provides a safe and welcoming space where community connection can be fostered through conversation and activities such as table tennis, chess and other games, and where some of these stresses can be relieved. Participants in the group are supported when needed by House of Welcome case work and referrals.

The Men’s Group takes place the first Friday of every month at Auburn Centre for Community, 44A Macquarie Rd Auburn, from 7:30pm - 9pm.
